Come on...you're invited...follow me...
Here we go...down the drive way (remember 'Better Half' repaved it)
To the bridal shower... Just follow the repaved road...Oh yeah...follow the 'balloon' trail, too...
Don't you just love the 'wedding bells' balloon? If one pile of balloons is wonderful, two piles are fabulous! Notice the hay to the right...told you--we really are farmers! Ommmm--I mean, three piles are super duper incredible! All down the repaved road we go... Come on... A look, from the yard, at those incredible balloons... In hopes of preventing a 'human' roadblock, I moved our umbrella rack to the front porch, added more balloons, a picture of the bridal couple, the guest book and a little Southern decor. In celebration of our California bride's Southern roots, of course, I felt we needed to include a few extra Southern touches... Gift table... | | Some foods are just required at a Southern shower -- the old standard fruit and vegetable trays... The cupcakes were a total hit with the girls... | | As were the thank you gifts, given to each guest, on their way out of the party. Just California Girl's way of saying 'thanks' to all friends and family...
Our home was filled with beautiful women of all ages, with the common goal of wishing our new bride-to-be a very happy future...
Think Mayberry...where's Andy? Opie? Aunt Bea? This place is so retro...I was really taken back in time... After a trip to Babe's, loading up on fried chicken, why shouldn't we head on over (it's literally off Main in Frisco) And, really, how many times are we going to be here to enjoy some wonderful, delicious, fabulous, great tasting custard? Huh? | Clean, clean, clean...Andy, Opie, Aunt Bea and Mister Clean...that's what I'm talkin' about... | | | | The custard is to die for...I love this place... | Frisco is a great place to visit...Come hungry...leave full...pack bigger pants...Anyhoo...
Really? So, you think you really know how to fry up chicken? Well, you don't...sorry... not like Babe's knows how to fry up chicken... For the serious connoisseur of fried chicken--this is your kind of place... I promise. Located Main Street, Frisco, Texas, Babe's has -- not only delicious fried chicken -- the most wonderful atmosphere...As I walked across their parking lot readying to go into the place, I was greeted by this adorable chicken...
The place was packed! On a big Tuesday evening at 5:30! Really? That told me something wonderful was about to happen to my taste buds...
We waited outside, under the big 'chicken' coop feeder... | Making sure the customer knows they are thinking about us, Babe asks, "Did you eat yet?" (I did the interpretation for you...) Unusual decorations in the 'waiting' area...Unusual? Yep, cow heads and chickens are unusual... | | Once inside and seated, the menu included fried chicken or chicken fried steak...That's it...seems very limited; however, I'm here to say, 'that just ain't so' because the fried chicken is so delicious. The word delicious does not describe that chicken...Incredible may be a better word. The sides include biscuits, green beans, whipped pototoes with gravy, and corn...
Babe's also has a 'decorating' theme going on in the dining area. Here's a few pictures for your viewing enjoyment... Okay, girls...you know that's funny... This group 'overlooked' us as we enjoyed our chicken...even Spock loves the biscuits... The chickens are right! Chocolate, lemon, coconut, oh yeah, and banana pudding, too! | | | Babe's has all kinds of great sayings on the walls... | ...and a real, honest to goodness jukebox! It really works...we really put in money and songs came out! Awesome!
We found the food to be excellent, the atmosphere to be charming and a good time was had by all...
'Miss Girl' is at it again...
It's a good thing: ~we are farmers ~we've had plenty of rain this spring translating into plenty of hay ~we have plenty of big tractors and hay balers ~'Miss Girl' has a daddy who doesn't mind moving a bale of hay ~she has plenty of spray paint ~and most of all-- she has plenty of good ideas... The hay bale has gone from this beauty, at Easter... to this -- for the 4th of July! 'Miss Girl' has informed her daddy that soon, very soon, she will be needing a new bale of hay...fall will be here soon...
What will be next? Stay tuned...
Our birthday is coming next month...Yeah America... Top level -- mini cupcakes, second level -- mini lemon pies and third level -- shot glasses filled with multi flavored mousse. Chicken salad sandwiches... Never would I encourage dumpster diving, however, I did 'find' this beauty while perusing a dumpster one hot afternoon about five years ago... Every party has to have the old standard cheese and vegetable platter...right? We had a great celebration last year...these pictures will help me get my 'thinking cap' on as I try to come up with a different way to decorate this 4th of July.
God Bless America!
We finally 'fixed' our driveway...It's been in the making for about three years...
I'm having a bridal shower at the house next month and told 'Better Half' the repairs had to be done by then...
All right!
Working with big pieces of equipment? Oh yeah, right up his alley! The 'road builders' descended onto our property...they brought in a couple of these...
...added a pick up truck...no, two or three pick up trucks...oh yeah, and a couple of trailers... and one of these... A half dozen men working on all those big machines, three days later, and wah la, a new driveway! Check this one off the bridal shower 'to do' list...
Now, let's start planning what we're serving our guests, oh yeah, and the decorations and ofcourse, what I will be wearing and let's worry about the weather and how many gals to prepare for and...well, you know the drill...
We continue to travel to places that have 'spotty' internet service; hence, no blogs...
Palmetto State Park, in south Louisana, near Abbeville, is wonderful...it's very new--looks new--I love new--even smells new...only been around a year or two... Very neat sign...watch for palmettos all over the park...this park must have been designed and decorated by a woman...just sayin'... The laundry room was particularly pretty and absolutely sparkling clean...I love the palmettoes at the end of the porch...washers and dryers were free to park residents! Kinda neat, huh? We are new to this rv'ing thing, with only a few trips 'under our belt'...this is the first time I've ever seen the whole 'free' thing... | What a beauty, huh? We researched and researched and researched...found our sweet Cameo...The week after we bought, the company went 'belly up'...Dang, hope we don't have any warranty issues... | Unit #45 was quite big and fabulous...it was as if we were at the park all by ourselves...In fact, I don't think there was more than two or three camper sites taken... Clean, clean, clean... | It reads Bear Loop; however, it should have read Wild Hog Loop...while taking a walk, we saw several (more than five--less than ten) wild hogs crossing the road...now, you know what we think of wild hogs...(look at archives for wild hog story) As we are standing here, admiring the building (I'm going to say it's a boat launch place) you are not going to believe what we see on the water, across the bushes and way out...Oh yeah, notice, again, the palmetto theme going on...The moss, hanging from trees is fairly impressive, too... Hold it! Hold everything! I thought we were the only ones here! What? A big boat? A big barge? A big boat shoving big barges? Where are they going? Where am I? Huh?
I love the way the water mirrors the barge boat, or is it a boat barge? These surroundings are unbelievably beautiful...almost eery beautiful, don't you think? | | I am very confident this place is full of alligators! |
