To Withrow State Park we have gone.  The camping area is very remote…no telephone or internet service.  When I asked the park ranger if internet was available, he looked at me disgustedly and said ‘no’…My 'other half' agrees with the ranger—he is of the opinion if you are going to get away from ‘stuff’ you don’t need to take with you modern 'stuff'…I, however, am of this opinion--if the park services made it more convenient for folks, they would probably have a ‘full house’ most days…just sayin’…
This is the view from our living room...literally in the woods...notice our bikes--a bike/hike story to follow...
Now, this ‘neck of the woods’ is home to the Waltons, Walmart’s founder.  We see, in this area, plenty of Walmarts and lots of chicken farms.

Tyson originated here, as well.

Daisy BB Gun, too…

Lovely area…much to see…hiking, biking, canoeing...Eureka Springs is just up the way…
Great trails…Three or four short ones.  This one is about one mile…pretty strenuous, but the views are well worth the effort it takes to get to the cave and bluff…We rode our bikes to the starting point of the hike…about a 1 1/2 mile ride…
After the hike, I got a phone call from Brother.  I somehow, magically, had cell phone service...Brother and I do love to talk.  We have very long conversations, usually once a day.  My 'better half' has no use for ‘long winded’ telephone calls and doesn’t understand how Brother and I can talk, every day, for many, many minutes…any way…he whispered he would meet at the ranger station—about ¼ mile up the street—go ahead, take my time, finish my conversation, blah, blah, blah…

I have no sense of direction--never have had.  Friends attest to it…I am a big fan of global positioning system (gps).  When I am traveling, alone, I keep it ‘on’ and use it always.  Well, knowing that bit of information, you now know what happened…

I got lost…yep, I got lost…went past the ranger station--did not see it--and on a couple of extra miles…after a talk with an AR family, I was given directions, turned around and to the campsite I went!  You guessed it, husband was worried to death, had been looking for me--in the truck…maybe a bear…perhaps a kidnapping?  How about none of the above…just lost

Forever on a diet, I chalked it up as excellent exercise…I also enjoyed visiting with the very friendly people living two miles past the park turnoff!

I'm looking forward to the arts and crafts show.  We'll go there tomorrow...
